Message from the Chief of the Farmington Fire Department

I welcome you to the Farmington Fire Department’s website. As Chief of the Fire Department I can attest that my personnel provide the highest quality of fire protection, prevention and education to our great community. The Farmington Fire Department responds to a variety of emergencies such as fires, cardiac emergencies, vehicle accidents, animal rescues, non-emergency assist calls and many other kinds of situations. As firefighters we take our training very serious. Continuing education is a must to stay on top of changing technology. Community involvement allows the fire department to interact with local businesses and other types of organizations in a positive manner.

Chief Kyle Carter

Chief Kyle Carter has been actively involved in the fire service since 2004. Chief Carter began his service with the Farmington Fire Department in October of 2015. He progressed through the ranks, with promotions to Fire Lieutenant in 2019, Fire Captain in 2020, and ultimately Fire Chief on June 2, 2023. Chief Carter has earned an associate degree in fire science technology from Mineral Area College, a bachelor's degree in fire service administration from Columbia Southern University, and several specialty certifications through the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office. 

Prior to his employment with the City of Farmington, Chief Carter worked in law enforcement, serving as a patrolman with the Perryville Police Department for three years and as an Investigator with the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office for five years. 

Chief Carter plans to maintain a highly trained and well-equipped fire department to provide residents of and visitors to the City of Farmington with the utmost protection and preservation of lives and property.
