Farmington’s government is characterized by a strong emphasis on public involvement, efficiency, customer service, and partnerships between the various City services and the community at large. As a whole, the City government conducts its business guided by a set of organizational values and behaviors, in order to best serve its citizens.

City policy is set by the Mayor and eight publicly-elected City Council members that represent Farmington’s four Wards. The City Administrator works closely with the City Clerk, City Council, and the City Attorney in carrying out the Council’s policy direction.The government of Farmington is here to serve the community – residents, businesses, children and families, and visitors.
