Permits and Inspections

This office reviews plans, issues permits, and conducts inspections in accordance with the city's building codes.

A permit is required to construct a new building; to construct an addition, alter, or change the use of an existing building; and for construction or changes to building systems and appurtenances such as mechanical, electrical, or plumbing.

To apply for a building permit an applicant must:


1. Complete an application form. (PDF will open in new window)

2. Provide at least two copies of all required plans.

3. Pay all required fees.

Building permits are not required for certain work that is exempted from permits or for work of a minor nature. Please contact the Building Inspector for details.
